As much I crave a Kitchenaid mixer I think the Sunbeam Mixmaster are still as good as ever. I used mum's 1960s mixer until it died in blue smoke and now think I'll buy a grand Mixmaster of the retro variety that look exactly like the old ads.
This Pyrex ad is great: I'm a Pyrex hoarder from way back and is so easy to buy new and used. I'd could nearly razor the picture out of the book and frame it. Plus the apron is for all those apronites out there. It's good to see hubbie taking an interest in kitchenware.
Atomic Homes has great collection of home ads and magazine articles. 'Specially love the laminex kitchen setting.
We have a '70s laminex table and fluoro green chairs which are fab but my dream is to discover an old '50s chrome and laminex table in our local hard waste collection.

(is the hubby taking an interest in the pan, or inspecting it - to make sure it's clean? :)
very cool - i wish i could find vintage pyrex - i've been looking!
I was scoping the mixers in the homeware store yesterday. Unfortunately on my student budget I can't justify the shiny red retro one I saw, even if it isn't kitchenaid! Only 2 sets of exams left to go!
that book sounds great.
I have a kitchenaid, an almond cream one, I wasn't adventurous enough to go red or orange!!!
I just love the look of it as well as how it works.
I love the colours of the 70s type advertising. The mixer reminds me of one I saw in the second-hand shop on the weekend. Thanks for the comment on your blog.
Oh I crave a mixmaster also - any type will do me fine. I love all your retro pictures. I got your package today - thanks so so much. Buttons were beautiful. I have a confession - I haven't posted yours yet - but it will be on it's way soon. Take care
My girlfriend has one of those tables on her back porch - not sure if she'd part with it or not. Don't you just love hard rubbish - I've just scored a really lovely 50's dressing table for one of my girl's rooms and have two gorgeous chairs that only need a bit of a polish. All for freeeeee!
This post just spoke to me!! I've got a great laminate table with my Grandma's gold retro chairs. They are so uncomfortable but she left us matching gold frilled velvet cushions! I loved my Mum's old Sunbeam mixmaster and if I had a disposable income and a bit more bench space I would totally buy one. As it is I make do with a hand-mixer. AND I just received a fantastic 2nd-hand pyrex mixing bowl in teal as a birthday present.
So there you go! Oh by the way, hello! I found you via Teacup.
Everything but the Pyrex .. which I can't stand ... ugh !
:)
I think hubby is probably inspecting for cleanliness! In my house, Mr J doesn't do the dishes very often but he does a damn fine job when he does. Unfortunately he goes for quality instead of quantity, which is my method. I do the dishes at speed; I don't fuss too much about the occasional missed spot.
Edited to add: Recently missed out on a fab red/chrome set of table and chairs at my local Salvos. Very cheap, probably why they were snapped up. Was feeling hormonal so had a little weep in the car.
That looks like a great book. Very nice to find your blog!
