Patternity

Thanks for all the op-shop love for my last post. It was a bonza haul, wasn't it?

Today I snagged these patterns (20c each!), mostly for the illustrations. The Vogue pattern is particularly stylish - I love the fold over collar and the models' languid air.
I remember wearing a tunic like this when I first started playing netball: 'bottle green' with a white tassel cord around the middle (did they have a special name? I can't remember). I'm not that old either but it seems such a long time ago.

These dresses are very much of mother's era, the tiny waist and full skirt. When we were little, we had a great dress-up box which included some of mum's 50s and 60s dresses. She still has them, though they are a little worse for wear, small children having dragged them around the house. I cringe a little to thing what beauties they were before we played in them. But mum was never fussed.
Isn't the pantsuit just swinging?

I love finding patterns pre-decimal currency.

My netball uniform was maroon with a white tassell. I had forgotten all about that until I saw you mention it.It must be a SA thing?

I am suffering from pattern envy.

It's all about the pantsuit! My school used to have those tunicy things as gym frocks- thankfully at least several decade before I was there!

I must go to the wrong op shops. Everyone else seems to find great stuff, but I rarely do. Although I did find a great scarf a few weeks back with little white birds all over it.
I love that pants suit!

I had a dress up box with my Mum's old frocks too - I wish we had kept them. I do have one dress made out of the most gorgeous brocade that my Mother made to wear to her pre wedding party in 1960. I also wore it to my pre wedding party in 1996!
