Rickety

I picked up these lovely old cards of rickrack on the weekend from the Port Adelaide Fishermen’s Wharf Market (which was a lot better than I’d remembered – just don’t go there for the food which was a lot worse than I remembered). I particularly love the bright red and white card.

At the same stall, I bought a bag of old patches. I’m old enough to remember mum sewing patches on my jeans and tracksuit.

These are some favourite ones:
  • on the left the theatrical one because we're an arty Comfy & Cosy household
  • at the top must be the scout's Undertaker badge
  • the one in the middle because I was born in 1970 ahem
  • the bottom badge is an old TAA badge - crikey!
  • on the right that must be a scout's Magic badge though I'd rather hoped it was a Smoking badge

Love the patches. Takes me back to my Brownies days. Can't say I earned too many patches at Brownies though - such a pity there wasn't a "half arsed attempt" badge. That one I would have earned.

Cute Patches! They make me want to cheat and whip up a little brown shirt dress and stitch them all. Much easier than actually becoming a Brownie or scout and earning them all.

I was never a scout, brownie or a guide so will have to live vicariously through these patches. Yes, I'm still in love with the ric-rac too!

My daughter found an pre-loved duffel coat in the op shop covered in old touristy patches, and the embroidered names of footy players who were popular when I was at primary school.(1970's) She wears it with pride.

Lovely finds! That ric rac card is so fabulous that I wouldn't want to use it just so I could swoon over the great design of the packaging.

You've got to love the ric rac! Those patches remind me of my brother's tracksuit circa 1978!

I like POW !

And lol on the smoking badge ( was there another for successfully doing the drawback, or blowing smoke rings ? )

Also a 1970 alumni.
